The Drina River

“Huchen Days”
This tourist manifestation traditionally takes place in Bajina Bašta at the beginning if each summer fishing season. It consists of several events: a huchen and grayling fishing competition, the flyfishing and a fish stew cooking competition. Huchen can be fished only with fake baits and each caught huchen have to be measured, photographed and thrown back into the water. Competitors can keep only the huchen that are longer than 110 centimetres. The winner is the competitor who catches the longest huchen.

LOCATION
Bajina Bašta Municipality is situated in the Zlatibor District, Serbia. It is by the Drina River, at the foot of Tara mountain. Visitors can arrive from Belgrade in Bajina Bašta either via Užice (180 kilometres) or via Valjevo (150 kilometres).
Taking into account its whole flow, the Drina is the most attractive for fishing at Bajina Bašta. The evidence is prize huchen, which were caught with fake baits (flickering voblers). Besides huchen fishing, grayling fishing with a fake fly (flyfishing) is also very attractive.
